Dean & Ling Interim Executives is focused on channeling considerable resources into this area as senior executive contracting becomes increasingly the means by which to adapt to the uncertainties of the current economic situation. In particular, this is being driven by project related work undertaken by the three levels of government, statutory corporations, and private consortiums.

The main requirement identified in the Corporate/Government Major Projects & Infrastructure area is at senior executive level. Roles include:

  • CEOs
  • COOs
  • CFOs
  • Senior Engineers
  • Senior Project Managers

In the legal sector, roles include:

  • Senior Corporate Lawyers
  • General Counsel
  • Heads of legal teams

Case studies

Infrastructure
Client Scenario: Our client made a ‘last minute’ decision to put a bid together on a major utility infrastructure project. The client needed support in financial modeling, contract review and submission and overall legal and financial management.
Our Brief: To locate and appoint four project team members to provide legal and financial support to the bid team.
The Result: Specifically, we appointed a senior lawyer with infrastructure experience, a contracts manager from a major infrastructure constructor, and two financial modeling experts. The team assisted in the bid process and the investment bank was awarded the contract.

Case studies

Private Equity
Client Scenario: Soon after our client injected funds into a privately held manufacturing business, they realised that there was a major concern with poor cash flow management, and management practices that struggled to contain costs and poor logistics processes.
Our Brief: Recruit and appoint an interim CFO and joint CEO to work with the current management team to improve financial reporting and cash flow, whilst improving management practices.
The Result: We successfully recruited a CFO who implemented stronger financial analysis and cash flow systems. We also appointed a new CEO who “mentored” the current CEO. The interim managers stayed with the company for twelve months and the private equity firm completed a trade sale within three years of their initial investment. The CFO has 20 years experience as a CFO and COO with a broad level of industry experience and also has worked with a major management consulting firm. The CEO was recruited from a rival organisation and has specific industry experience. He was also hired on the back of his strong ‘turn around’ experience.

Funds Management
Client Scenario: Our client received a reprimand and warning from the regulator regarding their poor unit pricing capabilities. They were at risk of incurring public incrimination and fines. They had a poor working relationship with the regulator and systems that could not deliver credible information.
Our Brief: Find a senior funds management expert with strong systems capability and working knowledge of unit pricing issues. The candidate must be able to turn around the regulator’s issues quickly whilst rebuilding confidence with the regulator.
The Result: We appointed an experienced funds management CFO who had previously managed many unit pricing issues. He recreated unit pricing accounts, installed new pricing systems, implemented new processes and built strong relationships with key people within the regulatory body.
