Directly provide benefit to the health of Queensland resource sector workers on a range of occupational health objectives!

The Health Compliance Officer sits within RSHQ’s Occupational Health division and is responsible for delivering against a range of occupational health objectives, including the regulation of occupational health obligations, monitoring of medical providers, and the control of psychosocial hazards. This will include leading compliance and enforcement initiatives such as inspections, audits, investigations and projects. This will help protect resource sector workers’ health by ensuring regulatory obligations are met and medical practitioners are delivering high quality services.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead compliance initiatives such as inspections, audits and investigations, and provide technical advice and assistance in the regulation of Queensland’s resources industries to ensure compliance with health-related obligations under resources safety and health legislation.
  • Lead the design, planning and execution of regulatory compliance programs and projects for health-related obligations using a data-driven, risk-based approach.
  • Implement a range of regulatory tools to promote compliance and undertake enforcement action where appropriate.
  • Utilise data and technology to identify risks, monitor performance, measure effectiveness of interventions and report and promote progress and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of regulatory compliance policies and procedures, particularly with respect to health-related regulatory obligations.
  • Document activities and outcomes in accordance with best practice record keeping, to support informed, impartial and defensible decision-making.
  • Provide high level support and advice to the Manager – Health Strategy and Compliance, and undertake other duties as directed and required.
  • Represent RSHQ and present at forums, conferences and similar settings.

The role works closely alongside RSHQ's inspectorates and engages with a range of stakeholders across the resource sectors which may include workers, operators, industry and stakeholder representatives and medical practitioners, requiring excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. The role directly provides benefit to the health of Queensland resource sector workers, which requires a highly dedicated and motivated officer to ensure this important value is delivered.

The successful candidate may be required to undergo any pre-employment checks including psychometric profiling, disciplinary history and criminal history that may be undertaken.
