AuScope is Australia’s provider of research infrastructure to the Earth and Geospatial Science community. Funded through the Commonwealth NCRIS program, AuScope provides expertise, analytics and data infrastructure systems which support a growing and diverse portfolio of research programs across academic and government institutions nationally, and it has a beneficial role in helping to address the challenges which influence the resilience of Australia’s economy, society and environment.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this broadly scoped and hands-on role is responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of the business whilst also having oversight of all periodic financial reporting, Board reporting, managing the annual budget process and for all external statutory reporting and compliance. This role is the cornerstone for responsible fiscal control and good financial governance, and you will be expected to use your financial subject matter expertise to provide insightful financial commentary and advice in relation to project performance, cashflow forecasting, planning and strategy and general business operations. As a trusted advisor to the CEO and to the Board you will naturally be a focal point of contact for a broad range of internal stakeholders, and you will also be expected to liaise effectively with AuScope’s external scientific community, funding agencies and all external professional advisors.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced CA/CPA-qualified finance professional to join a small, dedicated and collegial head office of a highly impactful Not for Profit enterprise. You might possess a genuine passion for responsible impact investing coupled with relevant financial management experience ideally gained in a relevant for purpose enterprise (a CRC, philanthropic or a charity/Not-for-Profit context is preferred). Your adaptable and hands-on approach and your commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards are essential, as is your willingness to tackle a broad range of tasks and your flair for building influential and highly collaborative working relationships.
