Tweed Shire Council, the largest Council on the north coast of New South Wales, has an annual budget of approximately $270 million, and is the largest employer in the Tweed with a workforce of approximately 770 employees across a wide range of programs and services.  This is truly a destination of choice to live, work and play.

The position of Coordinator Enterprise Risk is part of Council’s Corporate Services Team, and is responsible for leading the development, implementation, promotion and review of Council’s enterprise risk, business continuity management and insurance functions to minimise exposure to a broad range of risks in line with legislative requirements and best practice.  You will also manage the facilitation of Council’s role in the provision/ implementation of local emergency management arrangements.

The ideal person would be a contemporary leader that is experienced in:

  • Facilitate the identification of key risk areas and methods for mitigating and managing risk.
  • Maintain enterprise risk registers and periodic risk assessment.
  • Design, develop, deliver, assess and report ERM projects, aligning key ERM projects to operational and legislative requirements, vision, and governance.
  • Develop, integrate and maintain the ERM framework including supporting documentation.
  • Promote a positive organisational risk culture which engenders continuous improvement and best value in ERM.
  • Prepare reports to and attend the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee as required.
  • Assess fraud and corruption risks and provide advice, in accordance with Council’s Fraud and Corruption Control Policy.
  • Manage and administer Council’s insurance portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain the business continuity management framework.
  • Assess operational (internal) risks and their impact to business continuity.
  • Prepare draft budget for the Manager’s consideration.

You must have relevant experience in similar complex environments with a demonstrated track record of developing highly effective, collaborative and outcome focussed relationships at all levels with staff and the community.  You will possess excellent strategic implementation skills, as well as capability to deliver outcomes at an operational and tactical level across the organisation.

Your experience in building and driving a multi-disciplinary team to deliver on short, medium and long-term targets whilst further enhancing the teams’ capabilities in a partnership-based service model along with your  capacity for strategic thinking, and to manage priorities to meet business planning, program and statutory requirements are essential.  A Degree qualification in Risk Management or relevant risk / management field or an equivalent combination of training and extensive relevant experience in a similar role delivering enterprise risk management services.
