Due to the company’s ongoing success, we are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Design Engineer. Based at the company’s Head Office in Brisbane, you will work alongside talented senior engineers as well as motivated junior engineers.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design and Technical Engineering
• Produce geotechnical designs for piling, ground improvement and retention systems.
• Prepare design calculations, models and technical reports.
Project Support and Delivery
• Work with project engineers and site teams to ensure constructability and compliance.
• Provide design support during construction and resolve technical queries.
Tendering and Value Engineering
• Support estimating teams with design input for tenders.
• Develop value engineering options and alternative designs.
Collaboration and Communication
• Participate in design reviews, meetings and client discussions.
Quality, Compliance and Continuous Improvement
• Ensure designs meet standards, specifications and safety requirements.
• Contribute to improving design methods, processes and engineering practices.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following qualifications, experience and skills:
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
• Postgraduate qualification in geotechnical engineering is beneficial but not essential.
• Chartered status or progress toward CPEng highly regarded.
Experience
• Experience in geotechnical design within piling, foundations or ground engineering.
• Familiarity with design and construct project environments.
• Experience interpreting geotechnical investigations, lab results and geological data.
• Exposure to Australian Standards and relevant geotechnical design codes.
• Site experience supporting construction teams considered an advantage.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in design software such as WALLAP, LPile, Piglet, RC Column or similar.
• Strong ability to produce design calculations, models and technical reports.
• Understanding of piling systems, retention systems and ground-improvement techniques.
• Ability to assess risk, draft design verifications and manage change documentation.
