Director - Structures Planning and Delivery

  • Lead Structural Teams & Deliver Major Infrastructure Projects Across Queensland
  • Apply Technical Expertise and RPEQ Skills to Ensure Safe, High-Quality Outcomes
  • Influence Planning, Mentor Talent, & Leave a Lasting Legacy on Transport Network

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is shaping Queensland’s transport future by delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure. Within TMR, the Engineering and Technology Division provides specialist technical leadership supporting the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the state’s road network.

Dean & Ling Executive have been engaged to recruit a senior executive leader for TMR’s Engineering and Technology team in the role of Director – Structures Planning and Delivery.

As a senior executive, you will report to the Deputy Chief Engineer (Structures) and provide leadership across TMR’s structural engineering functions. You will lead technical teams delivering design and construction services for the Department’s structural road infrastructure assets and act as the principal advisor on planning, design, and construction matters.

This role offers a rare opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Queensland’s transport network. You will apply your technical expertise and RPEQ accreditation to ensure projects meet the highest engineering standards, while influencing the future of structural planning and delivery across the state.

You will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction across structural engineering functions
  • Deliver high-quality structural projects and services, ensuring safety, compliance, and technical excellence
  • Apply your professional engineering knowledge and judgment to complex infrastructure challenges
  • Develop and mentor teams, fostering technical capability and leadership within the division
  • Inform and influence investment, planning, and project delivery decisions

The ideal candidate will hold a Washington Accord–accredited engineering degree (Civil or Structural) and be a registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). You will have broad experience across planning, design, verification, materials, constructability, project delivery, and asset management.

You will demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership in complex technical and operational environments
  • Ability to make difficult corporate decisions while maintaining a people-focused approach
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence across internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to upholding TMR’s values: Respect, Integrity, Courage, Honesty, Authenticity, and Reliability

This is more than a role. It is an opportunity to shape Queensland’s transport infrastructure for generations. Your contributions will leave a tangible legacy, influencing how the state designs, builds, and maintains its road network.

In return, you will receive a generous executive salary package (SES 2 – low band), along with the comprehensive benefits available to Queensland public sector employees. You will join a respected leadership team, driving technical excellence across major infrastructure projects and contributing to initiatives that define the future of transport in Queensland.

If you are ready to take the next step in your career and make a lasting impact, apply today.
