Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) is the independent regulator of worker safety and health in Queensland's mining, quarrying, petroleum, gas and explosives industries. Their strategic plan focuses on protecting and promoting the safety and health of persons from risks associated with the resources industry. We are seeking a Principal Project Officer to support the Health Surveillance Unit.
As the Principal Project Officer, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of key projects and programs including free respiratory health checks for former mine and quarry workers across Queensland and their promotion to the community by overseeing contracts with service providers.
You will also provide support and advice in administering the Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme (Scheme), contribute to quality records management, and support business change in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
About you
It would be highly beneficial if you have knowledge, skills and experience in:
- Oversee the effective administration of contracts with service providers, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, resolving complex issues, and driving performance to achieve program objectives.
- Implementation and oversight of quality assurance and continuous improvement frameworks to ensure service providers consistently deliver high quality services.
- Conduct analysis of complex data and trends to identify systemic risks, evaluate provider performance, and measure program effectiveness.
- Provide strategic recommendations and prepare reports to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement to optimise service delivery.
- Facilitate regular communication and positive relationships with service providers to monitor performance, address challenges and share feedback to improve service delivery.
- Implement risk management strategies to maintain integrity of the program and adherence with legislative requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to Senior Project Officer for the successful administration of program outcomes and objectives.
- Liaise, negotiate and develop effective networks with internal and external stakeholders to deliver program objectives.
- Apply standards, legislation, project management methodology, policies and procedures in a service delivery environment.
- Lead the design, planning and execution of promotional activities that are driven by evidence and demonstrate sound financial awareness.
The role works closely alongside RSHQ's inspectorates and engages with a range of stakeholders across the resource sectors which may include workers, operators, industry and stakeholder representatives and medical practitioners, requiring excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. The role directly provides benefit to the health of Queensland resource sector workers, which requires a highly dedicated and motivated officer to ensure this important value is delivered.
