Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) is seeking 2 Regional Inspectors of Mines (Coal Open Cut & Underground) to lead a dynamic team of inspectors in implementing its vision of zero serious harm in the Queensland resources industry.

The Regional Inspector of Mines (Coal) supports the Coal Mines Inspectorate in promoting and protecting safety and health in the mining sector. You will provide organisational and operational leadership and management to the staff of a Coal Mines Inspectorate’s regional office. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Inspector, you will work closely with your Regional counterpart to coordinate and manage delivery of the inspectorate’s work program.

You will manage a multi-disciplinary team of inspectors, ensuring they are supported to deliver the inspectorate’s functions in a timely way and to a high standard.

This position carries out the functions of an inspector under the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 to help ensure that the coal mining industry operates at an acceptable level of risk. It provides expert technical advice on a range of mining safety and health matters to industry, the government and the community, in particular on those aspects relating to all aspects of mining engineering principles for underground and opencut coal mining operations.

We are recruiting for two (2) vacancies – one (1) in Mackay and one (1) in Rockhampton. Reporting to the Chief Inspector of Mines (Coal), the Deputy Chief Inspector of Mines (Coal) will have a key role in developing the coal inspectorate's long-term efficiency and effectiveness, contributing to the delivery of RSHQ's strategic objectives, while managing the day-to-day operations of the inspectorate across the state.
