Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC) is a public authority responsible for investing for the benefit of Victorians on behalf of the State of Victoria.  It manages funds of over $92 billion for 32 Victorian public authorities and related organisations across insurance, superannuation, health, arts, education, and service agencies. VFMC is a diverse and collaborative team that is united by a single purpose: Investing for Victoria’s future by delivering market-leading, long-term returns. VFMC fosters a supportive and growth-oriented environment for their employees. As VFMC continues to expand, an opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and commercial risk professional in the role of Risk Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance in a second-line capacity, you will lead delivery of and report on key enterprise and operational risk activities, driving the continuous enhancement of risk management practices and a strong risk culture across the organisation. Your role will involve implementing risk governance and management processes for all significant risks, ensuring internal controls are properly documented, updated, and maintained, and developing clear, insightful risk reporting. Additionally, you will administer the Business Continuity Framework, compliance with the policies and contribute to the management risk committee

This broad and hands-on role is ideal for a senior risk professional currently in an industry role or in a professional services firm, with demonstrated practical  experience in financial services and a degree in commerce, accounting, or law. You are pragmatic, flexible, and approachable, with a proven ability to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and communicate clearly. You take a proactive, common-sense approach to risk management and adapt easily to change. Strong organisational skills, keen attention to detail, and a self-starting attitude are essential, and graduate qualifications in risk or governance will be highly regarded. Melbourne based.
